Skinamarinky Doo Boutique
Skinamarinky Doo Boutique make clothing using vintage patterns from the 50’s. 60’s, 70’s and 80’s but all with a bit of a ‘revamp’. Dresses, shorts and skirts are not ‘short’ and the clothing is all designed for children to be children! Jody’s dresses are called ‘Pop em on’ as they have no zips or buttons for little ones to struggle with. Her signature skirts are KISS skirts-Keeping it Simple n Sweet! Skinamarinky Doo Boutique’s nappy covers don’t have elastic in the legs (unless requested), instead stretch ribbing is used so that those babes blessed with ‘chunky thighs’ can enjoy freedom of movement with no digging in from elastic. Jody has a very extensive fabric collection to choose from so if you see something that you like but in a different fabric/pattern, please feel free to message her for custom creations!
*Skinamarinky Doo Boutiqueoffers both Afterpay and zipPay
The face behind Skinamarinky Doo Boutique – Jody
I’m the owner, creator and face behind Skinamarinky Doo Boutique. I’m a mum to 7 and grandmother to 9 and have been sewing for around 40 years on and off. I was born and raised in New Zealand and moved to Tasmania with my little family 22 years ago. I was working full time but when we were blessed with the adoption of a newborn baby nearly 7 years ago I gave up work to enjoy being a Mum all over again (20 years between newborns..lol). This then set me on my sewing journey once again as my little boy was a fantastic sleeper and I needed something to do apart from twiddling my thumbs. I started making ‘useful’ things for him like bibs, wraps and reusable wipes. I then discovered ALL my old sewing patterns that had been tucked away for MANY years and so Skinamarinky Doo was born. I use this name in honour of my late son (his sunset was 7 years ago as the result of a motorbike accident) as it’s a song from a T.V show (The Elephant Show) in the early 80s that I used to sing to him everyday. I LOVE creating classic style clothing that doesn’t date and my clothing covers kids butts…you won’t find short Shorts, skimpy Skirts/Dresses or Crop Tops. My business is in Hobart, Tasmania and I’m so excited this year to have my very own sewing studio AWAY from my family home.
